New York as the mecca for young creatives is finished. It has become a simulacrum of that place, a theme park simulation. Those who come to NY seeking that will find themselves in the most awfully sticky spot, not on the other side of the glass, but simply wedged between two panels: what once was real, and what is now an approximation.
Today, coming to NY to "make it" is liking following the other lemmings off a cliff.
"There is no there, there."
