ARLES (FRANCE). Photographica FineArt gallery and VisionQuesT contemporary photography where established in 2009 one in Lugano, Switzerland the other in Genova, Italy with the sole purpose of creating exhibition spaces where photography would be conceived as an all around, total artistic expression. Besides collaborating with each other and exhibiting famous and promising photographers, we both organize talks, lectures with photographers, curators, writers, critics, books presentations, workshops and courses, consulting and organization of events,, fairs, portfolios and synergies with other private and national galleries and museums.
A glance on Italian contemporary photography, through the eyes of important, established, middle range and emerging photographers. Not an anthology but a look to give an idea as to where Italian contemporary photography is going. All our six photographers by using photogrphy in different ways and with different approaches will give a view of how interesting and important Italian contemporary photography is becoming.
From Giulia Marchi and the Lacanian concept of the ‘shared space, articulated in three dimensions: the real, the symbolic and the imaginary ; images, born from something real and tangible, subsequently acquire a specific symbolism through the artist’s imaginary, to Silvia Camporesi who moves along a thin line forming the boundary between imagination and reality, wakefulness and dreaming, where the subject is always in debate with the natural element and intent on transcending the limits of the body and the mind. and to Marco Maria Zanin who by combining different techniques and transcending the borders of other artistic disciplines. he shows relationship between man, territory and time.
From Bruno Cattani who takes us on a trip down memory lane that thrives once again in the present time, where our personal and collective memories blend together giving us back the past experiences of our lives, to Carla Iacono who uses the precious but ambiguous and universal language of fairy tales, to speak about the processes of growth and individualization, and to Gian Luca Groppi with his black and white analog “Mutazioni” who plays not only on double linguistic and semantic meanings but also on the vices, falsehoods and clichés of society, on the compulsion to appear, bringing to light the widespread existential malaise that corrodes energies and values.
